The best novel I ever read was "The white Massai". This novel is about a woman from Switzerland, who was on holiday with her husband in Africa.
As they were sitting in one beach bar, she saw an African man and was extremely fascinated with him. From this moment on she have to think about him every day and could not forget him - even not back in Switzerland. So she decided to travel back to Africa a few months later. In Africa she saw him again and fell in love with him, although they could not understand him, because he spoke only a few words English.
After her holiday ended, she moved to Africa to live together with him and his family. They marriaged and finally she get pregnant of him. But the life in the African desert was very hard for her with a little baby. They have not enough to eat and to drink as well as medicine. Also, it was very hard for her to have nobody she could really speak to. The relationship to her husband changed and was very difficult. One day she decided to went back to Africa to secure the healthy of her daughter. Her husband was very angry about it, so she had to travel outside the land without his knowledge.
Many years later she traveled to Africa to visited her ex-husband there. Today they have a very good, friendly-based relationship and she support her ex-husband and his family with money, which she send everz month to Africa to makes life easier for them in the hard desert.
Typical story of impossible love, did she really think it could be possible? But sounds like a good book for romantic people.
ReplyDeleteMarlon: Yes, she chose a difficult path. Maybe she was naive, maybe she was trying to escape. I am glad it worked out in the end. I am sure both her and her ex-husband are richer for the experience.
